All covid related travel restrictions are now lifted when travelling from the UK to Mexico however the Mexican government is keen to enforce ‘mask mandates’ as we discovered. I was told that everyone wore masks when going to the American supermarket – I decided to see what I could do. Our host waited at the door to see what would happen. I walked in and was immediately accosted by a mask wearing official. I showed him my card with a QR code stating my right/choice not to wear a mask. He called over his superior who read the text on the card and said I was OK to enter the store. I have no idea whether he understood what he was reading or not but he let me through. Whilst shopping I saw no one else who was not wearing a mask but they didn’t seem to mind that I wasn’t wearing one. I’d been told that I needed to wear a mask as a sort of empathy with the people who have been tricked into thinking they are a good idea for disease prevention, this reasoning did not wash with me.
Other people can do what they like, we all have choice. On the way round the shop another security man approached me and told me I had to wear a mask. I referred to my conversation with the other official and he let me go, in this situation a calm firmness helped.
In the airports everyone is wearing masks, in Cancun, Mexico City and Tuxtla we were the only people not wearing masks except those in cafes eating and drinking.
On our first internal flight (Viva Aerobus) there was no problem entering the plane without a mask and we were not bothered. On the return two ‘Aero Mexico’ internal flights we were pounced on as we entered the plane by an officious and insistent steward holding a sheaf of masks – evidently they are prepared for other rebellious travellers like ourselves. Having given the card stating our rights to the superior flight attendant – to show to the captain – three attendants approached us in our seats and told us that we would have to wear masks or leave the aeroplane. Pushed to this extreme, we accepted 2 masks that they gave us and hung them round our chins. Every time they went down the plane we were asked to pull them over our noses. This is the first time that we have ever worn a mask in the two years that covid has been thrust upon us – it’s a different situation in a plane to in a supermarket – where you can just leave and find another shop. I felt furious and humiliated but, in these situations one has to weigh up the pros and cons of what to do. We could have left the plane found a Viva Aerobus flight and missed our connection back to the UK.
Aero Mexico it seems have achieved some award of special covid hygiene levels and there was a little video that replayed showing men in hazmat suits with huge spray guns supposedly disinfecting the plane.
On the first flight the captain had decided he was enforcing the ‘mask wearing’ government mandate to the letter, on the second flight – once they’d given us our masks we were pretty much left alone. Some Californians who were sitting in front of us said they completely agreed with what we were saying and one of them had his mask round his chin. We gave them copies of The Light Truthpaper and Brighter Times to read – they were very interested as they said that the situation with masks and other enforcements is heavy in California.
So, if you go to Mexico, there are no restrictions to travel to and from the UK but you have to contend with this mask enforcing officialdom that shows that underneath the smiling face of Mexican tourism that the New World Order is pushing it’s world wide agenda of control and coercion in insidious ways.
Mexico is a beautiful, friendly and colourful country – here are our pics of ‘Brighter Times in Mexico’ to give you a little taste and a couple of details from murals I was painting in San Cristobal De Las Casas.
